How we rate

Every recommendation on Garmentnest has to survive the same three-source process. If a claim can't be traced to a source we can name, it doesn't go in the article.

1. The maker's own documentation

We start with what the brand itself publishes: material composition, fabric weight (GSM), hardware type, sole construction, lens category, metal karat or plating thickness, and care instructions. These are the facts a brand stands behind, and they are where most buying decisions are actually won or lost.

2. Published standards and regulation

Where a label makes a standards claim, we check it against the standard itself — UV400 against the ISO 12312-1 lens categories, gold-filled against the US Federal Trade Commission's Jewelry Guides (16 CFR Part 23), sizing and fiber labeling against the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act. If a product's marketing uses a term loosely, we say so.

3. Corroborated owner feedback

Specs don't capture fit, creasing, tarnish or pilling. For that we read large volumes of verified-purchase owner feedback and professional reviews with named authors, and we only report patterns that repeat across independent sources. Single anecdotes — good or bad — don't make it into our comparisons.

What we don't do

• We don't publish star ratings we can't trace to a named, checkable source. If a product has no verifiable rating, our pick simply shows no rating.
• We don't accept free products, press samples, or payment for coverage. Brands do not see articles before publication.
• We don't run deal, coupon or discount content. Our verdicts are written to be true at list price, not only during a sale.

When prices and specs move

Prices in our picks are the prices we verified at the destination linked on the day we checked. Retail prices move constantly, so treat every price as a snapshot — the button always takes you to the live listing. When a product's specification changes materially, we update the article and advance its "Updated" date.
